What is Honeyhole?

Honeyhole is fishing-habitat intelligence in your pocket: public government habitat data (FWC reefs, attractors, structure) on a living nautical chart, plus two signals every angler actually cares about:

• NOW — recent community catch reports + conditions on that water
• LIKE TODAY — an auditable Bite Index: how today's barometer / tide / moon (and friends) compare to a spot's better historical days — with drivers so you see the *why*, not a magic black-box score

No app-store install required to start: it's a PWA. Distribution is built for the real world — bait-shop QR codes that drop you on the right water.

Why it exists

Fishing apps are usually either:

• a social feed with weak map context, or
• a pretty map with no honest “should I go *today*?”

Honeyhole aims for chart + conditions + community + explainable score in one place — on the water, on phone, with privacy-aware geo and time math anchored to the water's timezone (not a random server clock).

MVP is live on statewide Florida data: thousands of FWC marine structures, conditions tied to nearby NOAA stations, depth bathymetry on the chart, wind overlay, catch logging (species, depth, weight, released), favorites, lake/water lists, 7-day forecast windows, and partner QR landings.

What's already shipped

• Map home with nautical style, depth bathymetry, structure pins, clustering, near-me
• Spot detail: NOW + LIKE TODAY (Bite Index + drivers)
• Catch log with species catalog + delayed/back-dated entry (trust-weighted for the index)
• Profile, favorites, prefs
• Lake / water ranked lists + 7-day forecast views
• PWA + offline shell work
• Bait-shop QR path (/j/[code]) → framed on that shop's water
• Partner console (scans, activity, QR tools) for shops that want in

Florida is the beachhead. The architecture was built so new regions (TX / Southeast) are mostly data + flip — not a rewrite.
